Free Slab Building Template

As usual we have been designing new ideas for you to make at home or in your own pottery. This month we are offering a Free Template to make a brush holder. This can be made from air dry or real fired clay and is a handy way to keep your brushes in order when glazing your work. Just click the link and email me and I will forward you the template and how to access the instructions on YouTube.

We also have templates available on Etsy.com for a small fee. Our latest design is a seascape diorama a scene that can be stood on a shelf or adapted to hang on a wall.

Short Pottery Classes at our studio

Discover the joy of clay in our fun, relaxed one-off pottery classes—perfect for beginners or creatives looking to unwind, get hands-on, and make something truly personal.  We have two special Sunday classes available only to book through this newsletter.

On June 15th, we’re diving into dioramas! Choose from our ready-made templates or design your own with guidance from our chief potter, Penny.

This September 14th, join our potter Emma for a one-off class to make pottery pumpkins—perfect for Halloween or adding a splash of colour to your autumn garden. Festive, fun, and totally unique!

Online Classes

For some time we have been publishing short videos on YouTube via our name of Carantocart1801 but we are considering offering short live online courses as well. Would this be of interest to you? If so please use the link below to message us.

Children’s Half term class

During the next half term we will be making pencil pots in the shape of a sports shirt during our kids group. These can be made into whichever sport you like. This shirt was designed by a young work experience student and we think it will be popular, so don’t wait too long to book.

Pottery Gossip

Well April has been manic here especially during the kids school holidays. Frankie did a fantastic job of running her first kids group making frog pots with nine children and their parents and Emma made nodding rabbits with another group. All their pottery is being clear glazed at the moment and should be able to go home to their excited owners soon.

The concerns over how the American tariffs may affect our stocks of Amaco glazes seems to be unfounded at the moment. Hopefully we will still be able to get the glazes as we rely on the mixing clear as the only clear glaze that works properly in our kiln.

Hanne is working on updating the glaze bible we use here with the new glazes she has been buying and hopefully we will be able to use it soon.

We are planning to finally get round to putting up the fabulous bugs and butterflies our students made for us on Christmas 2023, however we have put them in a safe place, and we cannot find them atm!!

That’s all for now. Happy Potting.
