Pottery Classes 2024
Adult Classes
Our classes encompass a range of pottery-making and decorating techniques. Due to their popularity, our regular class spaces fill up rapidly. If you're unable to secure a spot, don't worry; simply add your name to our waiting list, and we'll notify you as soon as places become available, alternatively come along to one of our one off classes and have a go whilst meeting the team.
Six Week - Beginners Class
Immerse yourself in the art of pottery with our comprehensive six-week course. You'll be introduced to a variety of techniques, including coil and slab building, as well as using the potter's wheel. Additionally, you'll explore creative methods for decorating your pieces.
After completing the beginner's course, you can advance to future classes, where you'll work on your own projects and deepen your understanding of pottery and ceramics.
Beyond learning a new hobby, these classes offer a wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals over a cup of tea (or coffee/hot chocolate) and some clay.

Two hour sessions

One Session Introduction Classes
An opportunity to have a go at pottery without the commitment of a six week class. During the sessions everything you need is provided and included in the price. At the end of the session we fire and glaze (where appropriate) your pieces and they are ready to collect after about 4 weeks. (time may vary depending on the size of the piece.)

Throwing for Beginners
(Using the Potters Wheel)

Experience the joy of the potter's wheel in our exciting two-hour sessions, perfect for up to two people.
During the session, you'll have the privilege of selecting three of your own creations, which you can decorate. We'll take care of the firing process, and you can expect to collect your finished pieces approximately four weeks later.
Before joining us, kindly ensure your fingernails are trimmed, as it greatly affects your experience with the wheel.
Should you wish to keep additional pieces, they can be retained for just £5 each.
Come, spin your creativity into beautiful pottery.
Highland Cows
Our highland cows sell across the UK and you have a have a go at making your very own. Book a two hour session to make your own highland cow (£40) or book a three hour session to make a cow and a base (£50).
Sgraffito Christmas Trees
Date: 6th October 2024
Time: 1:30pm
Cost £50
Using the sgraffito pottery technique of carving through layers of coloured clay you will spend the afternoon decorating premade pieces. These will then be fired and glazed ready to impress your guests at Christmas.
Hand-building and decorating

Date: Sunday 3rd November 2024
Time 1:30pm
Cost £50
Join us for an afternoon dedicated to crafting functional pottery. You will make a plate, mug, and a bowl using traditional hand-building techniques. During the session, you'll have the opportunity to decorate your pieces using slip. Following an initial firing, we'll finish the process with glazing, resulting in your completed and usable pottery being ready to use in approximately four weeks.
Fox
Dates: Throughout the year

A two hour session to make a fox.
Make a fox using our templates and paint with oxides to create a unique piece that can go in your garden or house.
Japanese Lantern
Date: 21st July 2024
Time: 1:30pm
cost £50
Have a go at making a Japanese lantern for your garden. This three hour session led by one of our senior potters will take you through the stages of creating a fabulous piece in stoneware pottery that will grace your area for years to come.
Making Fat Animals

Do you have a particular pottery project in mind, or are you simply looking to dip your toes into the world of pottery before committing to a full six-week course?
Join Emma or Penny for a two-hour session that will introduce you to the fundamental principles of hand-building pottery.
We provide tailored sessions where you can sculpt a pet or opt for a more versatile experience, creating items like mugs or vases of your choice
