Pottery Gossip

May has been just as manic as April here at the studio. There has been a lot of brainstorming, sketching and building going on in an attempt to rearrange the studio and make the most of our beautiful space. We have also been fighting the elements, which means a spray bottle is always in our hands to wet up the forever drying clay.

Emma, our hand-building tutor, ran a class to make three different dog breeds, with some help from Penny. These cute dogs are in the process of clear glazing and will reunited with their owners shortly.

Hanne is still working on updating the glaze bible and adding information on coloured slip, oxides and under-glazes, but it should be ready to be sent out shortly.

We have found the butterfly and bug plaques! They were in a corner of our office in a box labelled “Butterfly and bugs for studio wall”, of course. Hopefully, the weather stays nice and you will see them on the wall soon.

Throwing Classes at our studio

Discover the joy of getting very muddy in one of our two hour throwing sessions. This class is perfect for beginners and is run by experienced potters. New dates for these sessions for June and July have been put on our system.

Equally, if you are an avid tea and coffee drinker (like we are at the studio) you can come to a class and make two mugs on the potters wheel to bring some uniqueness to your cupboards.

Children’s Summer holiday classes

During the Summer holidays we will be offering five children’s pottery classes. These include a garden troll, Basil the cat, a penguin pencil pot, a sheep, and our favourite, a fairy house. All the dates and times for these classes are on our website and they fill up quickly, so book soon and give your child an experience to look forward to.

Templates on Etsy

We have templates available on Etsy.com for a small fee. Our latest design is a small Japanese lantern inspired by our larger lantern template.

That’s all for now. Happy Potting.
