A short session for people looking to have a go or improve their skill on the potters wheel

Sunday Classes

Once a month we offer a class that is suitable for beginners or more experienced potters in a pottery technique.

Mini making sessions

Fancy making a Highland cow or a hedgehog for the garden we offer short sessions to have a go at making little animals and more.


Throwing (Using the potters wheel)

An private class for absolute beginners as well as people wanting to improve their skills. Have fun trying out the potters wheel in a private session of  one, two or three hour sessions for up to two people.

Select the tick box during the booking to add a second person to the session.

Cost from £35.

 

 

At the end of the session you get to choose three of your pieces each to keep, which you then decorate and we fire*. Collection about 4 weeks after the session.  

Please ensure your fingernails are short before the session as it is VERY difficult to throw with nails!!

 

*additional pieces can be kept for £5 a piece

 

 


One Session Introduction Classes

Once a month we offer an informal one off class where you can have a go at a pottery technique and decide if this hobby is one you would like to take up. This is a class on making pottery without a wheel, if you would like to have a go at using the wheel please book our throwing taster sessions.

(Costs include all materials and firing. Finished pieces are generally ready to collect after 4 weeks)

Make a fox

Time: 14:00-16:00

Date: 10th July 2022

Cost £40

 

In this session we will be making and decorating foxes from stoneware clay and oxides.



Private Fun Sculpture Classes (for all ages)

These short private sessions allow up to two people* to work on making your own small pottery animal.  Book a time and date to suit you.

Cost is £40 per person which includes all materials, glazing and firing.

Sessions vary in length from depending on what is being made. 

All these sessions are suitable for all ages from 8 up.

Larger groups can be accommodated on request.

Highland Coo

 

  Our signature Highland cows are sold via gift shops around the UK as well as across the world on Etsy. Emma makes about 400 cows a year and during a hour and a half session will guide you through making your own special coo which we will glaze in colours of your choice. 


Fox

A two hour session to make a fox.

Make a fox using our templates and paint with oxides to create a unique piece that can go in your garden or house.

Hedgehog

Join us to make one (or more time permitting) of our cute hedgehogs. Made from stoneware clay your creation will live as comfortably in the garden as in your house. After you have made this little fella you can decide if you would like to paint him yourself or let us glaze him.

 


Baby Hare

Come and make a baby hare with Penny who designs and makes most of the animals here including the hares



Wheel Practise Sessions

Open sessions for people who have attended classes here at Carantoc Art and have proved a level of competency on the wheel. The sessions are not taught and are just to practise technique.

Cost £8/hour

Practise Clay £1/kilo

Firing charge £2/item
